Abruzzi-Maremma Sheepdog
 |
The Maremma Sheepdog has two names in its native Italy - Pastore Maremmano and Pastore Abruzzese. This is because for centuries the shepherd dogs spent from June until October in the Abruzzi, whenre there was good summer grazing, and from October until June in the Maremma. The Maremma doesn't work a flock like a Border Collie but defends it against wolves and bears.
