American Bulldog
| True grit. True devotion. True love. These tributes are used often to describe the American Bulldog -- a hardy, athletic, all-purpose working dog. The American Bulldog is a loving family companion, good with children and other pets, yet at the same time, fearlessly determined.
It has been known to display heroic acts of courage in protecting its master. The American Bulldog has also been used to hunt everything from squirrel to bear, and has been trained to drive cattle and guard stock from predators.

Tallulah the American Bulldog

Our American Bulldog, Tallulah, is the sweetest dog we have ever had! We knew very little about the breed when we decided we liked them. After some research we discovered they are most likely decendents of the original working bulldog from England. The breed lost popularity and was almost lost, until two breeders in the 1970's brought the lines back. Johnson and Scott bred what is now known as the American Bulldog.
We decided to give this breed a shot. Turns out it was one of the best decisions we could have made. She is excellent with our two small children, and they adore her too. She is a great family dog, and took very well to training. She loves to be with us and is very affectionate. Her energy level is moderate, which is perfect for us. We walk her once a day, and play in the yard with her daily as well. What she really loves the best is just being with people. She is very protective of our girls and our home, but not to the point of aggression. So far we have not had to test the guard dog side of her, thankfully! But I firmly believe she would defend us if the need arose. I would HIGHLY recommend this breed to anyone who is looking for a bigger dog that will be a good family dog as well! We love her so much!
