Australian Shepherd
 |
The Australian Shepherd or "Aussie" is a breed of herding dog that originated in America. This popular breed became known as the "Australian Shepherd" comes from the dogs' association with Basque sheepherders from Australia. The Australian Shepherd is highly energetic and requires exercise, learning and practicing tricks, competing in dog agility, or any other physically and mentally involving activity. The Aussie is very intelligent, learns quickly, and loves to play, so bored, neglected, or unexercised Aussie will invent its own games, activities, and jobs, or become destructive. Aussies have a second nickname - that of "Velcro" because of their strong desire to be near their owners and for their tendency to form intense, devoted bonds with select people.
