Reina the Black Mouth Cur

Reina the Black Mouth Cur Hi! I thought I'd send a note about my beloved Blackmouth Cur, Reina. We got Reina (Spanish for "Queen," German for "Strong Woman" at a local rescue shelter (a no-kill shelther, the Animal Welfare Society of Southeast Michigan) - she was a sight to see, bandaged up from late dew claw removal, a bit saggy as she just finished with her puppies, and with stitches - but still bright eyed, excited, and eager to please. Every day with Reina is a joy - she's loyal, is super eager to please, and you can tell she's thankful to have her home. She loves kids, long walks, treeing small animals, and having a job to do, not to mention a great judge of the character of people or other dogs, making sure we know the ones that aren't okay. I'm sending along a picture through your other form of her - thanks to Sid the Catahoula for telling us about this site!

Baby Girl the Black Mouth Cur

Baby Girl the Black Mouth Cur This is Baby Girl. We adopted her from a rescue league in Georgia as a puppy. They/we didnt know what kind of dog she was because they were dropped off at the pound and left there. I sent a picture to the rescue league just recently, and they thought she was a Black Mouth Cur. That's the first time I had ever heard of that type of dog. We looked at the them on the internet and she does look exactly like that. Plus, the temperament description is exactly her. She's very SMART, vey easy to train. Loves to run and hunt animals, including squirrels and deers. She's very protective of us, but also very sweet and gentle and loves us and we love her. She's a wonderful dog and I can't imagine our life without her.
