Boykin Spaniel

Boykin Spaniel The Boykin Spaniel was first bred by South Carolina hunters during the 1900's to provide the ideal dog for hunting ducks and wild turkeys in the Wateree River Swamp. The dog those hunters were seeking needed to be small, rugged, compactly built for boat travel and able to retrieve on land and water. The typical Boykin is friendly, a willing worker, intelligent and easy to train. The Boykin Spaniel is devoted to its owners and is said to get along well with other dogs and children. The Boykin Spaniel is eager to hunt and has endless energy.
