Kerry Beagle
The Kerry Beagle is one of the oldest Irish Hounds, and is a descendant of the Old South cree Hound Hounds or Celtic genealogies dating back as far as 1794. Originally bred as a dog used to scent the track of the game, the big dogs were sent to carry out the hunt. This breed is still used for hunting hares. The Kerry Beagle breed almost died out and has been seeing a rise in population after breeders added the French Braque de l'Ariège to the line. The Kerry Beagle is best known for its energetic and outgoing nature and is full of character. These active dogs love to keep busy with work and play, and thrive on strong and dependable relationships with humans. This breed is highly intelligent and generally easy to train. As a pet, the Kerry Beagle is obedient, loyal, loving, and very affectionate. These dogs are not suited for full-time indoor or apartment living, as they enjoy spending time outdoors, playing games such as fetch, and having plenty of room to run and play. |
