Redbone Coonhound

Redbone Coonhound The Redbone Coonhound is one of six recognized varieties of the Coonhound, the major distinction from other Coonhounds being its solid color. They are said to descend from foxhounds, but also have features and bloodlines that can be traced to the English Bloodhound. They were bred to hunt raccoon, hence the name. Since raccoon are nocturnal, the Redbone Coonhound is gifted with incredible scenting and hunting skills. As a pet, the Redbone Coonhound is a faithful and good natured dog who is happiest when with the family. Like all hounds, the Redbone Coonhound is very vocal and can bark or bay excessively if left alone too much.
